HF 525 – Veterinary Practice and LLCs
HF 583 – Animal Truck Wash Facilities
FLOOR ACTION:
HF 525 updates the Iowa Code to clarify that business organizations composed of licensed veterinarians may own a veterinary clinic, practice veterinary medicine and provide veterinary medical services. The forms of business organization include a professional limited liability company or professional corporation engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine, and a partnership or a limited liability partnership composed of licensed veterinarians. HF 583 amends the code sections regulating animal feedlot operations to include livestock truck wash facilities, changing the section “Animal Agriculture Compliance Act for Open Feedlot Operations and Animal Truck Wash Facilities.” This code section has many provisions dealing with the storage and application of effluent. Animal truck washes produce large amounts of effluent, which require storage and eventual application. As regulations for livestock effluent are largely contained within chapter 459A, updating the code section to include animal truck wash facilities provide for better regulation. [4/14: 50-0]
